Exploring the Potential in LID Technologies for Remediating Heavy Metals in Carwash Wastewater

چکیده

Carwash wastewater (CWW) can be a significant source of environmental pollution due to the diversity and high concentrations contaminants it contains. This toxic contain several different heavy metals that if left untreated, enter surface sub-surface waters. Innovative, nature-based solutions such as low-impact development (LID) technologies may provide an eco-friendly CWW treatment process is both effective affordable. research reviews available literature definitive values flowrate contaminant found in around globe. Dividing LID into two groups, vegetated unvegetated systems, authors explored for general performance these sustainably treat CWW. Depending on car wash’s size intended purpose, whether cleaning vehicles agriculture-based rural communities, mining, or high-density urban environments, volumetric flowrates requiring six countries ranged from 35–400 L/car. also contains wide range at various levels, including COD, turbidity, TDS TSS, surfactants, oils greases, lead, cadmium, zinc, copper, chromium, iron. Heavy metal removal by LIDs shows mixed results literature, but given processes involved types, propose system combines types order all necessary processes, mechanical filtration, adsorption, sedimentation, chemical biological processes.

Pollution potential and ecological risk of heavy metals in municipal wastewater treatment plants sludge

Background and Objective: Application of sewage sludge contaminated with heavy metals may cause health and ecological concern. Ecological risk and heavy metals content of sewage sludge from wastewater treatment plants of East Azerbaijan province were evaluated in the present study. Materials and Methods: Nine composite samples were taken and analyzed for heavy metals. The geo-accumulation inde...

Investigation of Heavy Metals concentration in Wastewater reuses for agriculture irrigation in Isfahan

Background & Aims of the Study: The use of urban wastewater in agriculture is receiving renewed attention with the increasing scarcity of freshwater resources in many arid and semiarid areas, despite its associated health and environmental risks. Long term wastewater usage for irrigation results in accumulation of heavy metal in soils and plants. So, due to the environmental and health risks as...

The Fate of Heavy Metals in Wastewater Stabilization Ponds

-The distribution of toxic heavy metals was studied throughout the process of treatment of domestic wastewater by stabilization ponds. The concentrations and distribution of free and bound zinc, cadmium, lead and copper through the various stages of a treatment plant were analyzed by Anodic Stripping Voltammetry (ASV). Only a slight decrease in the total metals concentration was observed during...
